"Hello” and “thank you” for considering Williamsburg Village Child Development Center for your childcare and child development needs. My husband, Ken, and I have been the proud owners of Williamsburg since 1999. While our own two children, Susan and David, did not attend Williamsburg, they did attend a top-notch, high quality childcare center (different owner today, however, and in a different part of town). From this first-hand experience with our own children, we saw how they developed and blossomed in their high-quality early educational experiences. Because of our first-hand experience as parents, we decided to buy Williamsburg and create that same wonderful, positive, high-quality experience for the enrolled families (both children and parents) that Williamsburg serves today.

I am passionate about education, especially early childhood education! A generation or two ago, the first formal entry into education was considered kindergarten. Today it is the childcare experience, which often starts at 6 weeks of age. This early educational experience can have a huge impact (positive or negative) on the overall development of children during their early, formative years. Williamsburg is very proud of its solid reputation and tradition as one of Lincoln’s best, high-quality early educational experiences. Come experience the difference for your family as well!

My own educational background is only one of the many differences you will find at Williamsburg. I have two college (undergraduate) degrees (B.S. in Biological Sciences from Nebraska Wesleyan University and a B.S.N. in Nursing from the University of Nebraska Medical Center). I have two Master’s degrees (both from UNMC) and two Doctorate degrees, including a Doctorate degree in Education (Ed.D.) at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and a second, separate, Doctorate Degree in Nursing; Doctorate of Nursing Practice(DNP) from Creighton University. As I said, I am passionate about education!

I also have a unique background which I bring to Williamsburg. I have over 30 years of combined experience working as a Registered Nurse and as a Nurse Practitioner in a wide variety of positions and settings (hospital, medical clinic, and long term care). Additionally, I have valuable experience gained from my previous work as a nursing educator, in-service director, staff development director, infection control manager, and nursing supervisor. After completing graduate work in nursing, I currently serve in various roles as a Nurse Practitioner (NP). I hold 3 National NP board certifications in both primary care and psychiatric/mental health. I am able to bring all of my knowledge and experience to my role as Williamsburg’s owner, director, and nurse practitioner. One of my favorite ways to contribute is by writing a monthly health-related newsletter on some applicable and relevant content for enrolled families and by serving as a (free!) health care resource and consultant for the Williamsburg staff and enrolled families. Additionally, Williamsburg has an impressive infection control program in place that is similar to that found in a hospital setting. My career background, knowledge, and experience comes in handy in many ways to help keep all of our enrolled children healthy and safe, in an environment that is conducive to learning, growth, development, and FUN—all things that you would expect to find in a high-quality child care center!  Williamsburg also has the absolute best teachers and staff that makes sure each child is given endless opportunities to explore, learn, and grow in a caring, supportive, and nurturing environment. Come see the difference for yourself!  Schedule a tour today and join the WVCDC “family!”
